Series Race #2, on May 24th - paying $1000 to win
Running along side of the most successful Late Model Series in the Midwest, Kalamazoo Speedway has just announced the Pure Stock Klash Bash. This will be open to Pure Stocks/Street Stocks that conform to the Kazoo Pure Stock Rules. Attention M-40 Pure Stocks – the tire rule is the same as you have now, the Hoosier 880’s on 8” steel wheels – no impounding of any kind; bring the tires you already have. And for any cars that are running a gauge legal 4412CT carb, we will allow you to weigh 3100lbs and are offering a $200 bonus if the race winner is using a 4412, making it possible to take home $1200 for the feature win! Racer Donnie Nelson critically injured
GALESBURG, Mich. (WOOD) -- Race car driver Donnie Nelson was critically injured after the throttle on his car stuck open, forcing his car into the wall at the Galesburg Speedway Saturday night.
Nelson, 44, is in a coma with brain and spinal damage. A specialist is on the way to Borgess Hospital from Ann Arbor.
According to an update on the Galesburg Speedway website, "He has a very serious neck injury involving the bone that connects the brain stem to the spine which is broke. They have compared this injury to the type that Earnhardt Sr. died from. If the bone in his neck would have broken any lower it would have killed him instantly they said. FULL STORY
