Chad starting to race at such a young age, where did you get your start?
I went out to East Lansing Kart Track with my dad Jeff and we watched a day of racing and I really liked it, but its been in my family my whole life with my Uncle and my dad.
Talk about how much of a challenge it is for you to pilot a heavy stock car. Being only 120 pounds, do you have a regular workout program to help you keep in shape?
The biggest challenge for me is keeping the car under me for 100 laps without making a mistake but physically at 120 lbs 5 foot 7 there is no problem. I go the weight room in high school with my football team and go to the gym with my friend Tyler so i work out alot.
How do your fellow competitors treat you as a driver, being so young.
My competitors just try to point me in the correct direction and help me with what they can. Brian Campbell has helped me alot at Berlin and Johnny Benson helped me with Kalamazoo but i know if i race them clean iI'll get the same back if I'm trying to pass them.
What helped you get into a high-profile ride with Rensi at your age?
My dad Jeff Finley drove for him a while back in ARCA and in Busch and he heard i was racing and wanted to get involved and so he started helping us in karts with sponsors from McDonalds and the Marines and this year he said that if we want to stay on the development program we have to move to cars. So we moved into super late models and ASA and that gives them something to product to help us out with budget and such.
Driving for Rensi Motorsports, do you currently have any plans layed out for the future development wise?
Our plans for the future are to run ASA and then move up to Hooters Pro Cup and if that all goes good were going to move up to ARCA and if everything goes as we hope it will its going to lead to NASCAR but after ARCA we are looking at Busch. The main thing is that we need to be able to finish all the races and run as well as we can.
What are your plans for the 2007 racing season?
Our plans for 2007 is run ASA Late Models some super late models and possibly some Hooters Pro Cup and also testing an ARCA car.
What is the biggest key to success that you have found in your few years of racing up until this point?
My biggest key to success so far is just to be patient and get what you can. Don't over drive the car but just drive it and pick each car off cleanly one by one and you will get to the front eventually.
What is your long term goal, for your racing career? NASCAR, IRL, F1, ect.
My long term goal is to make it all the way to NASCAR and if it all goes as planned that's what's going to happen. I just have to be patient and wait for the right opportunity.
